A quirky Mid 20th Century Fat Lava ceramic glazed pottery cockerel decanter with eight matching cups on a barley twisted iron stand, by Vallauris, France Circa 1950s. The cute cockerel decanter has a removable head lined with a cork!

Vallauris is a small town near Cannes on the Côte d’Azur renowned for its pottery in the Mid 20th Century. The artist Picasso lived and worked in the town from 1948-1955 in order to facilitate his early artistic experimentation with pottery. Seduced by the "town with a hundred potters" it was in his villa nestled on the hills of Vallauris that his creativity was set free.
