Extremely rare to find a set of 3tulips, theses 3 engravings by Johann Wilhelm Weinmann are from the famous 18 th century work ‘ Phytanthoza Iconographia’ . This was a pioneering work of 1000 botanical engravings from drawings by Dionysius Ehret. This was one of the first works to use a newly developed printing process which combined engraving with mezzotint - this facilitated fine detail and shading which was then enhanced by hand colouring.
These beautiful engravings are presented in complimentary silver gilt Italian frames ( with double mount ) which support AR70 glass which provides some protection against the damaging effect of sunlight and cuts reflection so that the image quality is vivid and uninhibited.
