Item Details
A late 19th Century serpentine satinwood parquetry commode of the finest quality. The three drawers, sides and top are veneered with diamond shaped lozenges and cross bandings. On the top of the fluted and carved columns are acanthus leaves, The chest sits on four crisply carved tapered acanthus leaf feet. The drawer linings and carcass are made of hardwoods. Each drawer has four brass rollers for ease of movement and the carcass also has two for each drawer. Possibly used as a silverware chest. All of the brassware is original.
