This beautiful armchair, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, is a charming example of the craftsmanship associated with Liberty & Co. and the Arts and Crafts movement. Attributed to renowned makers William Birch, it showcases intricate turned Mashrabiya panels on the back and sides, giving it a distinctive Moorish flair.
The upper backrest and seat have been expertly reupholstered in luxurious, thick French linen, offering both comfort and style. The chair stands gracefully on finely turned and tapered front legs, adorned with pretty ring turn detail. Multiple layers of original paint add to its character, with the current finish resembling a soft, weathered shade of dried plaster, enhancing its appeal.
Whether used as a side chair in a living room or bedroom, this unique armchair is a true conversation starter and a testament to timeless design.
Seat height 39 cm.
