A delightful bronze group depicting three putti in a scene of Bacchanalian revelry, celebrating the harvest with charm and vitality. The figures are arranged around an upturned wine barrel brimming with grapes, accompanied by a panpipe. One putto holds a staff entwined with vine leaves, while another raises a wine chalice, with a vine leaf draped over his modesty. The composition rests nicely on a decorative oval nicely contrasting Sienna marble base.
Condition is consistent with age, with minor wear, including a few small nibbles along the marble edge.
Buhot, a student of the renowned David d'Angers at the École des Beaux-Arts, began his career at the close of the Neoclassical period. He debuted at the Salon in 1837 and remained an active exhibitor until 1865, earning recognition for his finely crafted works.
