This is an absolutely astonishing antique Italian portrait painting that dates from the 17th century. It is a fine work of a master painter depicting a mysterious sitter of refined features and porceline like skin. It is rare these days to discover such high quality portraits that are still in exceptional condition considering its age. The painting is oil on canvas measuring about 65 x 54.5 cm or approximately 25.5 x 21.4 inches that was relined with a new canvas at some later stage for its longevity. The frame is gilded wood, also antique but more rescent than the painting itself I believe. This ancient masterpiece is exactly as I discovered it a few years ago whilst living in France.
