This is a magnificent and extremely rare antique French sunburst that dates from the second half of the 17th century. The sunburst is made of hand carved and gilded wood adorned with crystal glass stars. In its centre is a wonderful framed painting - on copper - depicting Madonna and Child. This is a truly exceptional and highly decorative treasure that measures about 73 x 73 x 13 cm or approximately 28.7 x 28.7 x 5.1 inches. Just the framed painting is about 20 x 17 cm or approximately 7.8 x 6.6 inches. Considering its impressive age it is in lovely antique condition with signs of ageing mainly seen in the gorgeous patina created by the passage of time.
