This is a remarkable and large antique Italian crown that dates from the early 18th century or older. Discovered recently in Florence, Italy, this magnificent treasure is hand carved from wood and gilded. Once it was most certainly an opulent bed canopy. Through its impressive age of 300 years [or more] most of its gilding has flaked away creating in the process a gloriously timeworn and distressed patina of captivating beauty and splendour. In my opinion this only enhances its true sumptuousness and hypnotising presence today. This is a highly decorative baroque treasure, that measures about 55 x 56 x 54 cm or approximately 22 x 22.5 x 17.9 inches. It is exactly as I discovered it.
