This is a truly exquisite and extremely rare antique Spanish sunburst that dates from the early 19th century. Discovered recently in January of 2025 this remarkable treasure consists of double layered rays of light around a circle of clouds. At the centre are the initials of Jesus. Once it was most certainly the crowning part of a large work of art or an altar tableau. This is a highly decorative and opulent artefact that is entirely hand carved from wood and gilded with masterful craftsmanship. It measures about 44 x 46 x 10 cm or approximately 17.3 x 18.1 x 4 inches and it is in great antique condition - for its age - and exactly as I discovered it.
