This is a truly glorious and extremely rare German baroque sacred heart that dates from the 17th century. Discovered recently, this exceptional treasure is hand carved from wood and partially gilded in gold and silver. What makes it so outstanding today in my opinion is its magnificent distressed and timeworn patina created by the passage of time. The flaming heart is positioned on a sunburst or rays of light of which some are missing. This however gives it a gorgeous presence like no other. The heart is positioned on a wooden base. As shown on the images it measures about 38 x 24 x 6.5 cm or approximately 15 x 9.4 x 2.5 inches. This is a delicate yet captivating treasure in its timeless beauty and meaning.
