This is an incredible and extremely rare ancient French painting of Mary Magdalene that dates from the early 17th century or older. Discovered recently in the South of France where the saint - as believed by many - arrived after the crucifixion of Christ. This is an oil painting on a wooden board that through the passage of time has gained a stunning timeworn patina. It is this remarkable distressed appeal that gives this enigmatic work in my opinion such exceptional and magnetic beauty and splendour. The painting measures about 51.5 x 38.5 x 2 cm or approximately 20.2 x 15.1 x 0.7 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
