This is an absolutely precious and one of a kind ancient Italian painting that dates from the early 17th century or even earlier. Discovered on my recent trip to Tuscany in January of 2025, this exceptional work beautifully depicts Mary and Joseph with the baby Jesus. This is an oil painting on a copper plate that is still in its original gilded wooden frame. The colours are still so fresh which is remarkable considering its impressive age of 400 years [or more]. The painting is still in relatively good condition with some minor flaking of the paint which in my opinion only brings forth its true beauty and splendour today. The wooden frame shows signs of ageing and it is in a lovely timeworn condition that I personaly admire very much. However it could be reframed if desired to show it in a more contemporary way. The painting measures about 22 x 17.5 cm or approximately 8.6 x 6.8 inches and it is exactly as I discovered it. For the full condition please refer to the images!
