This is an absolutely stunning and rare antique French sunburst mirror that dates from the late 19th century. The sunburst frame is created from a double layer of hand carved wood that was once fully gilded. Through the passage of time most of the gilding has flaked away creating in the proccess a fabulous distressed patina that gives this mirror a magnificent appeal. The sunburst holds a wonderful convex glass mirror. It measures about 53 cm or approximately 20.8 inches in diameter and it is 6 cm or 2.3 inches deep. It is exactly as I discovered it recently.
