This is a stunning collection of seven antique Italian Sacred Hearts and Angels that date from the 19th century. These are votives or Ex Votos used to express gratitude for receiving miracles such as a healing, or having one's prayers heard. They are made from silver and silver plated metal with stunning filigree work depicting cherubs and flowers. Most of the hearts bear the letters PGR [per grazia richevuta - for the grace received] or the initials AM for Ave Maria. This set contains also two wonderful open winged guardian angels, one holding a child [protection] while the other one is embracing a cornucopia with flowers [abundance]. These are highly decorative antique treasures filled with a profound beauty and meaning. They could be hung on a wall or displayed on a flat surface. They are also fantastic as Christmas tree decorations. The votives are in different sizes ranging from the larges being 18 x 13 cm or approximately 7 x 5.2 inches to the smallest measuring about 6.5 x 6.5 cm or 2.5 x 2.5 inches. They are in lovely antique condition and exactly as I discovered them with their captivating patina. However they could be pollished if desired. For the full condition please refer to the images!
