This is a wonderful set of antique French bronze figures that represent the four seasons. Discovered recently in the South of France they date from the French Napoleon III period of the 19th century. Once they were most certainly the embellishments of some ornate furniture. The figures - two male and two female - are highly decorative and are made masterfully crafted from gilded bronze. Each figure measures about 20.5 x 12.5 cm or approximately 8 x 5 inches. They are exactly as I discovered them and in lovely antique condition with signs of ageing mainly seen in a stunning patina created by the passage of time.
