Lord Byron (1788-1824)

Lord Byron was a British romantic poet and satirist known for capturing the imagination of Europe with his renowned poetry and characterful lifestyle.

He was often known as a 'gloomy egoist' in his autobiographical poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage in the late 19th century.

Lord Byron is now more generally esteemed for the satiric realism of fictional character Don Juan.
