A antique carved marble figure of a lion in sejant erect position holding a heraldic shield.

Dating between the 17th and 18th century, this statue is a beautiful interior piece for display on a centre or side table in a traditional townhouse or impressive hallway.

This small yet impressive sculpture showcases an expertly carved white statuary marble lion holding a shield displaying a coat of arms with stylised fluer de lys, tudor rose. Perhaps it could be an unidentified family crest with a little more research, who knows what you might find!

CONDITION REPORT

Good structural condition. Wedging or packing is needed to make the piece sit completely flat. Weathered condition.
