Item Details

A huge oversized antique English oak arched door, dating from the late 19th / early 20th century. This magnificent door is a statement piece for any setting, making a beautiful feature of an age-old walled garden or historic courtyard. It features many original fixings including impressive wrought iron strap hinges, crafted at the hand of a talented blacksmith, and a working latch.

Perhaps this arched door once stood at the entrance to a prestigious English castle or historic heritage building. Whatever its former use, it will today stand out as a focal point thanks to its very large scale and defined arch to the top.

CONDITION REPORT

Good structural condition. Cut outs for old hardware. Latch in working order. Fitted with an old letter box. Parts of original hinges. Back is stained black while the front has a weathered dark finish. Would benefit from being re-finished. Front is missing weather strip / drip bar.
