Item Details

A very large mid-19th-century terracotta urn with a beautiful green glaze, increasingly rare to find—especially in such excellent condition. Handmade in the village of Castelnaudary in the South of France, it was originally used for storing and transporting olive oil or seeds. The large handles would have allowed a rope to be threaded through for easy loading onto ships or wagons. A stunning piece of history that would make a stylish focal point in any home.
