Attributed to Thomas Christopher Hofland (1777–1843), landscape-painter, born 25 Dec. 1777, at Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
A River Scene at Sunset, probably Home Counties, Southern England. Painted in oil on a mahogany panel and within the original gilt gesso frame. An old hand written exhibition label attached to the reverse; the panel prepared by ‘R. Davy, Colourman to Artsts’ ‘Patronized by Sir Thomas Lawrence etc., etc.,’ and with their label to the reverse.
