John Hobson, School Master of Higham.
Born in Derbyshire in 1722, he married Elizabeth Siddall. Together they had six children. He died in 1770, in the parish of Shireland, Derby, England.
This steel tinder box, dating from the middle of the eighteenth century, was his. It is engraved with his name, profession and his place of residence.
