16.75 inches x 12 inches
Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones was a British artist and designer associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement; he worked with William Morris and was as one of the founding partners in Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.
By the turn of the 19th century Burne-Jones and much of what his art stood for had fallen from fashion. In 1933 an attempt to revitalise his reputation was spearheaded by Stanley Baldwin, prime minister and nephew of the artist, by holding an exhibition of drawings and paintings at the Tate Gallery in London. This print was perhaps produced to coincide with the exhibition.
