How It Works

The DC is a community of professional antique, vintage and contempoary Sellers of items for the home and garden, from around the UK and Europe. Here they showcase their range of items for sale, providing you, our clients, with access to thousands of items, with new pieces being added throughout each day. As soon as a Seller adds a new item, it shows on the site in real time.

The following tips are intended to help you navigate around the site.  If you would like further assistance, then please contact us here.

If you are having trouble viewing the site, please update your browser as using an older version may stop you using the site to its fullest.  You could also try using a different browswer, ie, Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Old computers may also interrupt your use of a site as may a poor broadband or internet connection.

CAN'T SEE THE PICTURES - this can be caused by a number of things, usually it's because you may be using an out of date browser, try updating to the latest version of Firefox, Chrome or Safari for instance and this could solve the problem.

If your using Internet Explorer, it may be that you need to add a site to your 'Compatabiity View List'.  This a common issue which many people are not aware of. 

Before going to the NEW page or any Category pages, please read the below as this will help you when browsing these pages.

On each of the NEW and Category pages, you will see a menu on the left of these pages called SEARCH RESULTS. Each of the tabs in this menu can be opened by clicking on it.  Note: these tabs are able to work individually or in conjunction with each other to optimise your search results.

CATEGORIES - Scroll over the Category tab at the top of a page and a drop down menu of sub-categories will appear. If you click on one it will take you to that specific pag.

 

SELLERS STOREFRONTS

To view the Storefront page for each Seller, where you will be able to see all the items they have on the site at any one time, on an Item page, showing all the pictures and details for that individual piece, below the Description you will see a tab called SELLER STOREFRONT. 

You can also link to their Storefront page from their Directory pages where you will again see SELLER STOREFRONT.

NEW page

Located at the top of each page, in the header bar, is a tab called NEW, these pages are very popular as they show all stock that has recently been added to the site by our Sellers. Items are shown in real time, so as an item is added to the site, it will immediately show on the NEW page. When you see an item you like, simply click on the picture and it will take you through to the page showing more pictures and details (scroll down below the pictures to see the description etc). To enquire about an item, or to ask how to purchase it or to make an offer,  just click on the tab opposite the pictures called CONTACT SELLER and an encrypted email form will pop up for you to fill in. This will go off directly to the Seller, and they will reply to you. On each stock item page there are also links to the Sellers own website, telephone details and a link to their Storefront, showing all the items they have on the site.

CATEGORY PAGES

Located at the top each page, in the header bar, you will find various categories and sub-categories, showing all items for sale on the site. Once you are within the stock pages, you will also find on the left hand side 'Search Results', below which are various filtering options to assist you in quickly moving between all the stock pages.  When you click on a Category page, a drop down menu will appear showing you any sub-categories, which you just click on to be taken to that section. To scroll down below the categories without having the drop down menus appear, just scroll down between each category name and they drop downs won't be triggered.

SEARCH BAR

The 'Search' bar, always located at the top left, will enable you to quickly locate an item you are looking for. You can search on maker or designers name, as well as specific or generic words; always remember to enter your search words and then click on SEARCH to confirm your action.  If you have a sellers name in the Seller box, it will then only search on that Sellers items, so remember to clear it if you want to search through everyone's stock on the DC. If you just click on the Seller tab, a list of all our Sellers will appear and you can then quickly see all the items that Seller has.

ARCHIVE PAGE

This lists all SOLD Items on the website and remain on this page for 6 weeks or until deleted by the Seller.

Creating a CLIENT ACCOUNT is easy. At the top of any page, click on CLIENTS (top right), scroll down to below the text field boxes and click on REGISTER YOUR ACCOUNT TODAY. Fill in your name and password and click on REGISTER. Once you have created your account, you thereafter just click on CLIENTS and fill in your email and password.

You don't need an account to shop or browse our website or to contact our Sellers, but it will enable you to save items to your account so you can refer to them later. You can create Mood Boards and follow your Favourite Sellers amongst other features. For more information on each, please see below.

FAVOURITE SELLERS

How to Save your Favourite Sellers - First go to MY ACCOUNT tab of your login and on the left hand side, scroll down to EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS and select 'Yes' to be able to receive a weekly email from the DC (sent each Wednesday at 2.30pm) which will list those of your Favourite Sellers that have added new items in the past week. You then just click on one of their names and you will be taken to their Storefront showing all their items. To un-follow a Seller, just go into your client account, go to Favourite Sellers and you will see a box with Remove From Favourites. You will also see a quick link to Email them from there as well, along with a link to view their Storefront.

MOOD BOARDS

These are ideal for Interior Designers as it allows them to create Boards for individual projects or category items, ie chest of drawers. For private clients they are useful too, as you could create a Mood Board for each friend or family member you buy Gifts for, or Boards for each of your Rooms you may be decorating.

How to create Mood Boards - Click on the tab at the top called SAVED ITEMS. From that page click on ADD MOOD BOARD, enter the Mood Board name in the box and click on Save. You can move the order in which your Boards show by hovering over them and choosing the DRAG option and move it to where you want within the list. This is the same way you can move around the thumbnail picture of an item as well.

Each of your Saved Items will show as a thumbnail and if you hover each saved item, you will see the options available. VIEW ITEM allows you to click through and view all details (if it has been removed from the site by the Seller, then it will be removed from your Client Account). DELETE removes it from your account completely. DRAG allows you to arrange the order your pictures are shown in. ADD TO MOOD BOARD is how you add that saved item into a Mood Board (you can add a saved item to more than one Mood Board), even on mobile devices.

YOU CAN ALSO

You can change your email and password login details.

You can choose how often you receive our Mailshots, ie, weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

You will be able to read helpful MESSAGES from the DC.

You will be able to see at a glance who you are following and your saved items (see below).

Clients pay our Sellers directly. The DC does not accept payments on behalf of Sellers at any time.

Some Sellers will offer the option of taking payment via Paypal and if this is the case then you will see a PURCHASE SECURELY tab next to the item for sale. When you click on this, a box will pop up advising you to contact the Seller first, just to make sure the item is still available, but also so you can ask any other questions you might have.

If you agree a different price from that shown, or want to add a delivery payment, just go back to the stock page and enter manually into both fields whatever is appropriate. Then click on the Paypal tab and you will be taken through to their Paypal account to complete payment.

We only provide a link to their Paypal account, but the Seller will receive a notification email showing who has paid, what for and how much.
