Unframed, oil on canvas painting of a polo match. Signed by the artist Azoulai 1986.
Mallets in hand, two mounted riders compete to reach the ball on their grey and brown horses.
Beautifully rendered painting full of movement and atmosphere.
Jose Azoulai [1925-2019] Well known artist of Deauville, where he settled in 1949. His paintings are characterised by motion. “I like to paint action, horses in full effort, boats in a regatta, runners on foot.” He was known for painting of equestrian sports.
