Item Description

Cherrywood 'Wine Tasting' Table from France-. Also known as a 'Vigneron' or 'Vendange' Table, it was constructed for use in either the wine cellar or the fields and vineyards the romantic notion, based in fact, being that they were also used for lunching during the wine harvest.

This is a particularly beautiful example dating to the end of the 19th century with gorgeously coloured fruitwood table top which has a lovely patina with a few ancient marks and small stains and also has intricately carved legs and a swivelling lyre shaped crutch.

Made in Bordeaux, France circa 1890-1920.

The oval tabletop measures 50 x 37 inches x 29 high.  (  127 X 99 X 74 cms) In good condition with various wear and imperfections from its age and usage.
