Item Description

Historic Writing Box from the days of the British Empire. Made in India of Camphor Wood with banding in brass , the self-contained Writing Box acted as a portable desk for a Traveller including receptacles for Pens & Inks , Diaries notebooks and Letters.
A Pull-out mechanism operated by the front inlaid brass handle automatically pulls out the Front Drawer and at the same time opens the Roll-Top revealing the pull-up Letter Rack and allowing the Hinged Slope to fold forward creating the Sloping Desk Top.
In its day this was an ingenious and beautiful piece of equipment for the First Class traveller and is still a lovely antique piece to possess.
(It is also the right size to hold a Macbook)
Measures 18 inches x 9 high, x 15 extending to 22 inches deep . (46 x 38 x 23 cms)
