Item Description
This charming old 'Almacén' (Grocery) store pine backfitting, which I found at a local Spanish fair, in fact hails from the provincial town of Lleida in Catalonia, Eastern Spain. circa 1860-1900.
With old powder blue painted backboards and complete with its rows of spice drawers and grain bins, the photos show it set up in the kitchen of our home in France.
Measuring 123" wide x 102" high x 9" deep (12.5" at the base), it is shown decorated with our own kitchen paraphernalia.
An added feature is that it breaks down into 3 roughly equal independent units of 40 inches width (see second to last photo).
Because of the height of the ceiling in our kitchen and in order to stand our collection of English Victorian tea canisters on the top of the unit, the top cornice which is viewable in the last photos, has been left off in the primary photos.
Dating between 1875- 1910. Measures 315 cms wide x 260 high x 31 deep. Anyone interested in purchasing the backfitting will need to allow for the time and expense for it to be dismantled and transported to wherever it is needed.
