A stunning 18th-century George III period mahogany secretaire bookcase. This well-proportioned mahogany bookcase features a glazed 2-door cabinet over a base with 14 oak-lined drawers. The base includes a fitted fall-front secretaire writing drawer, raised on original ogee bracket feet. The secretaire writing drawer is well-fitted with multiple interior drawers and compartments. The glazed bookcase top is fitted with two compartments, each containing three adjustable bookshelves. This superb piece of furniture dates from around 1780. The figured mahogany exhibits a rich, warm patina, which is perfectly complemented by the exquisite brass work throughout.
