Oak Art Deco Cabinet Bookcase with Bureau by Gomme C1930s

A seldom seen and rather attractive Art Deco English oak piece by Gomme - label to rear likely designed by Lawrence Barnes head of design at Gomme at the time.

As with most of Gomme's earlier pieces they preferred to use a lighter tone of oak and this one is also accented with walnut to the curved cabinet door and drop down desk bureau, maybe a special order. We have a well designed piece with a long bookcase shelf under which sits a drop down writing area with working lock and key with oak pigeon holes inside, under this are 2 useful oak shelves and to the side sits a curved cupboard with 3 adjustable shelves and a very useful drinks storage to the inside! The piece is slender in depth and looks great open or closed.

Condition is good - we of course have day to day marks but nothing particularly off putting. The 3 interior shelves have over time become a little uneven but very usable. The bureau possesses its lock and key alongside the original chrome drop down mechanisms. The whole piece is clean, tidy and ready for placing having spent a session in our workshop.

For any large items that require two people to lift the item, we ask that you are available at the time of delivery to be able to give our shipper a lift off the van and into your house with the item. If you are not able to lift items yourself, we ask that you have someone on hand at the time of delivery to assist our shipper with moving the item. We are happy to quote for a two person delivery if required.
