Delightful Early 19th Century Period Chinoiserie Decorated Desk

A truly delightful early 19th Century faded black Chinoiserie decorated 4 drawer desk in lovely unrestored “country house” condition with a pleasing and very attractive lived in look but perfectly usable. The desk sits on 4 shapely cabriole legs and is free standing or could be placed against a wall if required.

There is a very well established patination and craquelure to most areas of the piece with Chinoiserie decoration depicting oriental figures, fauna, wildlife and landscapes all age faded and quite delightful. The little brass Dutch drop axe handles are sitting in place and again are pleasantly age tarnished, very much in line with the rest of the desk. We have some interesting chalk writing to the inside of the left drawer mentioning a late Victorian auction - all drawers are running well. I would assume we are missing the arched recess to the front but not particularly noticeable to be honest. We of course have aging and a little loss of paint here and there but nothing’s perfect. 

It is ready to place and sits firm with no wobbles.

When purchasing from us we include delivery in the purchase price which is based on a one person delivery for England and Wales. Please call or email for quotes to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isles and for World-wide shipping. 

For any large items that require two people to lift the item, we ask that you are available at the time of delivery to be able to give our shipper a lift off the van and into your house with the item.  If you are not able to lift items yourself, we ask that you have someone on hand at the time of delivery to assist our shipper with moving the item. We are happy to quote for a two person delivery if required.
