Item Description
Original painting by Chloë Holt RCA FRSA.
One of the youngest artists ever to be elected a member of the RCA. Winner of the 2012 Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize, Chloe also, in 2010 won the International Lorenzo il Magnifico prize by the Florence Biennale for works on paper.
“Limon Dolce Ordin” is a contemplative work, featuring a solitary lemon with leaves.
During the Renaissance signified longevity, purification, love and luxury. The lemon is bittersweet: it’s beauty contrasted by the sharpness within.
Chloë is inspired by the great lemon collections of the Renaissance, particularly that of the Florentine Medici’s palatial gardens, celebrating the noble citron.
“It feels like now more than ever, that surprise feeling and recognition that you noticed the small things in life is a true gift. To open your eyes and discover what really matters, that can be the simplest of things, the most fleeting of moments. And that’s what has filled my heart with joy.” - Chloë Holt
