Item Description
Large French still life oil painting on canvas dated 1927. 45½" x 32" canvas featuring a composition of a large wicker basket of apples, a loaf of bread and a bottle of wine with one glass poured ready, together with glazed earthenware jugs, a pan and knife. Arranged on a pale surface against a simple background. Confidently painted in thick oils in the Post Impressionist style. Signed Millet and dated '27 in the lower left hand corner of the canvas. Two small holes in the left hand side of the canvas. Presented as found, unframed on the original stretcher.
