Item Description
Spectacular pair of Italian inlaid rosewood commodes or chest of drawers c.1880. Of identical design, both with a slimmer frieze drawer with internal dividers over three larger drawers below. Highly figured rosewood veneers to the tops, front and sides, with superb Classical style marquetry inlay decoration in contrasting satinwood. Inlaid mouldings, stringing and multiple borders. Deep moulded tops (with a couple of tiny secret drawers accessed from inside) and curving shaped sides. Raised on bracket feet, inlaid with a griffin style creature at the front. Good quality with sturdy pine drawer linings and back boards. Some wear to the finish. Generally very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
