Beautiful set of eight Regency Hepplewhite style ebonised spider back dining chairs c.1930. Six chairs plus a pair of matching carver armchairs. Ebonised hardwood frames featuring a pierced backrest with spider's web form stretchers. Slim arms to the carvers on swept supports. Over good sized sprung seats upholstered in a Regency stripe fabric with embroidered detail. Superb hand painted decoration to the frames, including anthemion motifs and laurel leaves around the central lozenge featuring a Classical figure of victory. Note how the edges of the frame are highlighted in red. Slim legs with further painted garland decoration running down the fronts. Clean and serviceable upholstery with a few minor marks. Otherwise very good condition, solid and ready for use.
