Item Description
Lovely little late Georgian oak bureau or writing desk c.1810. Useful small size, just 36½" wide at the feet. Open the fall to make a good sized desk (height 32½") and revealing a fitted interior of small pigeon holes and stationery drawers around a lockable centre cupboard with a small hidden drawer inside. Note also the secret guinea drawer above the left hand pigeon hole. With four long drawers of graduated height below the bureau. Inlaid detail to the fall front and interior door. Inlaid mahogany banding to the drawer fronts (also repeated on the interior), with cockbeaded edges and brass swan neck handles. Solid oak sides. Raised on a moulded plinth with large shaped bracket feet to the front and sides. Excellent colour and condition, some minor repairs, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied for the fall and interior cupboard.
