Item Description
We absolutely love these Sankey Bulwell Victorian hand-thrown terracotta, frost-proof pots. These are so rare and such a thing of beauty for any gardening enthusiast. These Sankey pots, crafted by Richard Sankey & Son Ltd, established 1895, feature the iconic “Sankey Bulwell” stamp across the body of each pot. It still surprises me to find these beauties in such superb condition having had many years of potting and repotting. Previous generations of gardeners must have taken great care and pride with these terracotta pots, to be able to enjoy them today.
Each of these antique terracotta pots, handmade by highly skilled craftsmen, are unique and are no longer manufactured in this method today. Sankey pots were produced entirely by hand until 1939. The last of their clay pots was made in 1976.
These scarce and hard to source quality garden pots are a must for any keen gardener. Ideally, we would love them to go to one home and we will endeavour to hand deliver ourselves to ensure no chipping or cracking will occur in the delivery process. It just seems sacrilegious!
