Item Description

The highly sculptural heptagonal cast iron chimney tops, each with seven pronged spikes now acting as feet, the tops now with cut tempered glass, the wholes re-purposed to act as a unique pair of side tables and remaining in original condition from the first half of the nineteenth century.

The wholes are in good useable condition with no issues. There is some gnarled loss to the rims of each cowl.

Chimney cowls are used to help minimise down draughts, prevent rainwater from entering the stack also to prevent wildlife from entering the chimney stack. The overtly pronounced form of these tops are actually quite scarce in themselves, and although they are two hundred odd years old they appear almost contemporary in their edgy aesthetic.

Unique sculptural delights that draw the eye and tables that you won’t be seeing the like of again.
