Circa 1860. An unusual stylish quality matched pair of French walnut gilded and painted Prie-Dieu chairs. (Furniture for use during prayer, consisting of a kneeling surface and a narrow upright front with a rest for the elbows)The curved upholstered top finished in stylish needle point, with a wonderful Rococo style pierced back with highlights gilded, and a well painted heraldic coat of arms to the center. The seat in needle point which is monogramed, the wonderful shaped seat rail in the Rococo style, highlighted with gilding, resting on four elegant cabriole legs.
