An Art Nouveau Bentwood Chair

A handsome chair that would work well on its own or as a desk chair.
Lovely vintage condition.
This bentwood chair, model 721, was designed by Otto Wagner in about 1905. Wagner was an Austrian architect, designer and educator and an important figure in the development of modernism in Europe. He was appointed Professor of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 1894. This chair is a variant of the armchairs that Wagner designed for the Postal Office Savings Bank building in Vienna.
Currently on loan to for an exhibition at Wow!house at Chelsea Design Centre.
