A Gothic revival arch, from the estate of St Mathew's vicarage camden c.1854 (the estate was of the late Nancy Fouts), designed by architect John Johnson, who collaborated on Alexandera palace.
The blacksmith made arch is believed to have been an original part of the vicarage or the adjacent church (also by John Johnson), which had suffered bombing during ww2 and was subsequently demolished in the 1970s
The arch had originally been gilt and then later painted, Some of the gilding can be seen peeking through in areas.
