Item Description
A Fantastic George III mahogany linen press. The doors are adorned with stunning foliate, pilaster and scroll moulded carvings in the rococo taste.
The interior retains its original oak-lined sliding trays.
The base offers three graduated drawers with their original brass swan neck handles.
All raised on prominent bracket feet. Great timber and colour throughout.
A related pair of linen presses from Milton Abbey, Dorset were offered at Sotheby’s on the 18th October 1997.
That pair had similar beautiful mouldings to the doors and were formerly in the Untermeyer collection, deaccessioned from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
