Item Description
This is a "Clef De Sol" coat rack by the French designer Roger Feraud.
Made in the 1950s from iron and brightly coloured painted wood spheres. The paint is original and slightly worn in places, consistent with it's age.
A very decorative design and practical too - lots of hanging space for coats, hats and scarves. A fun piece for any hallway or boot room.
Roger Feraud (1890 - 1964) was a French furnishings designer. He enjoyed working with the latest materials that were becoming increasingly available, such as steel and chrome plated tubes.
The design of this coat stand and many similar objects, was inspired by the DNA models created by Linus Carl Pauling. The company Cromos in France produced the majority of Feraud's work.
A fantastic midcentury design classic.
The width at the top is 61cm and at the bottom it's 50cm.
