Item Description
This stool is a timeless classic which captures the midcentury style.
Model 60.
It is made from birch was designed by Alvar Aalto in Finland and was originally sold in the UK by Finmar.
Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto was born in Finland on February 3rd, 1898. He trained as an architect and designer and is often refered to as the "Father of Modernism" in the Scandinavian countries.
His work includes architecture, furniture, textiles and glassware.
Finmar was founded in 1934 by Philip Morton Shand, an architect, and Geoffrey Boumphrey, an engineer, to import Alvar Aalto's plywood furniture from Finland. The store was situated in the heart of London - on Kingley Street, Soho.
This stool is one of his iconic designs and has the stamp on the base of the seat. Please take a look at all our pictures.
