Item Description
This elegant hanging light is made with a lovely copper frame and attractive glass.
It's a good size, but the drop doesn't require a particularly high ceiling. It can of course be hung from a length of chain, if more of a drop is required.
Classic French design, a very nice antique light.
Rewired for the UK, this can be adapted for any destination.
The Holophane company was established in 1893 in France by Otis Mygatt, the company began producing quality for prestigious locations, such as St Paul's Cathedral in London.
When the late Queen Elizabeth II was crowned, Holophane were charged with the responsibility of lighting Westminster Abbey. This was an incredibly important task and of coures it was the first Coronation to be televised and filmed in colour.
There had to be enough light yet not so much that it caused discomfort. Holophane used gold colour prismatic reflectors fitted into candelabras and chandeliers, with overhead projectors.
