Item Description
An 18th Century Italian Neoclassical Period Walnut Chairback Hall Bench/Settee.
This bench was made in Italy in the late 18th century and it is conceived in the chair-back manner, the back splat being formed of three joined chair splats, each with a central urn with fine fret cut detailing and three applied walnut floral paterae. These lovely urns contrast beautifully with the austere decoration of the rest of the piece which would originally have been used in a fine entrance hall. We have made a squab cushion for the piece and it is now ready to be used either as originally intended or as a conventional settee if preferred.
