Item Description
A Late 18th Century English Mahogany Serpentine Serving Table of Good Size in the Neoclassical Taste.
Conceived in the neoclassical taste popularised by the likes of Sir William Chambers and Robert Adam towards the end of the 18th century in England. The carved paterae, fluted frieze and legs and block feet are all features associated with some of the fine furniture produced under the influence of these and other designers active at that time. Having fine colour and excellent patination and of good size. The decoration is executed on three sides, and the quality of the carving and the proportions of the table throughout suggest that it was produced by a maker of some repute.
