Item Description
Grand scale 19th Century hand carved stone gargoyles.
Acquired from the descendants of a 19th Century Superintendent of Works for the city of Rouen, charged with the Cathedrals renovation. Many of the cathedrals gargoyles and decorative sculptures were replaced at this time.
The Superintendent seems to have borrowed this pair for the family seat in Villeneuve sur Lot where they stood for 160 years.
