Item Description
This rare and elegant George III period bookcase is a superb example of late 18th-century English furniture, constructed from rich mahogany with refined marquetry inlay throughout. The upper bookcase section features 2 astragal glazed doors and framed by beautiful marquetry inlaid patterns.
A striking break arch pediment is adorned with intricate pierced fretwork above a dentil cornice and additional blind fretwork adding architectural presence and visual sophistication.
There are 3 height adjustable shelves inside, and the doors have a working lock and key.
The lower chest top features a decorative inlaid design and comprises of 3 serpentine-fronted drawers, each finely dovetailed and in good working order. The drawers have brass swan-neck handles and are adorned with further marquetry inlaid detail.
The whole piece is supported on bracket feet, it breaks down into 3 pieces for transport and is offered in good condition.
