Item Description

This handcrafted bowl has the original patina, with inner textured circular decoration. General light wear only.

Sam Fanaroff spent his working life as a copper-smith in Westham, Sussex, completing church commissions as well as doing repair work and creating one off pieces, which earned him an international reputation. He conceived The Guild of Sussex Craftsmen during a Rural Crafts Exhibition at Michelham Priory in the 1970s. The name was later changed to the Sussex Guild. In 2018 Fanaroff was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to crafts. The Sussex Guild is a lasting testimony to the idealism, vision and determination of its founder.
