Item Description
Small early 19th century French panel mirror from the Directoire period (1789-1804) with gilt reeded frame. After more than 200 years of dusting, the gilding has thinned in places revealing the terracotta bole and cream gesso beneath. The original mercury glass is in lovely, sparkling condition and gives an excellent reflection and this mirror can be hung portrait, as photographed, or landscape. For such an early mirror, this style of frame has a very contemporary look and will work well in both a modern or traditionally decorated room.
